Born on July 10th, 1980 to Joe Truett Simpson and Tina Ann Drew, Jessica Simpson was born to be a star on so many levels. She did not begin her singing career at an early age like many others (Britney Spears). She had a very normal childhood while attending J.J. Pearce High School in Richardson, Texas where she was voted Homecoming Queen two years in a row. Her musical career began when she was about twelve years old. While attending a church camp, she was discovered by a Gospel record label. She finally got her first true taste of performing into front of a large audience. Not long after, she auditioned for a new show on the Disney Channel entitled The New Mickey Mouse Club. She tried out with other future pop stars like Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Justin Timberlake. Her gospel music really became a launch pad for her extremely successful career.  

After Tommy Mottola, an executive at Columbia Records got his hands on one of her albums he knew exactly what to do. Immediately, she was signed and they began composing an album for her. In late 1999, Simpson and Columbia Records finally released her first pop album entitled Sweet Kisses. After the very successful debut album, her music career just grew and grew.

After the great success of their MTV reality show, The Newlyweds, Simpson gave a shot at breaking into the movie industry through the widely applauded film, The Dukes of Hazzard. In addition to playing a major role in the movie, Simpson also sings a very popular song on the soundtrack entitled, "These Boots Are Made for Walkin”. 

Simpson will continue with her music career by releasing a new album, And the Band Played On (due to come out sometime in 2006).
