From the moment Britney was born, Lynne
Spears knew she had something special. Raised in Kentwood, Louisiana,
Britney was constantly looking for some kind of performing act to get
involved with. Whether it be dancing in a talent show or singing in the
church choir, Spears was always there. Even from an early age, she was
putting herself through tough challenges. She would practice various
skills like singing and dancing, while still have time to go through three
hours of gymnastics. By the age of eight, her mother had her auditioning
for a wide array of opportunities. One of those being the Disney Channel's
New Mickey Mouse Club, but since she was too young—was left
rejected. She didn’t leave the audition empty-handed though, one of the
shows producers in an effort to help Spears out directed her to an agent.
Not before long, she landed spots in numerous productions and in 1992 was
chosen to be a part of Star Search. After winning the first round,
she was beaten in the second but that didn’t slow her down. After
initially being rejected, Spears tried out again for the Disney Channel's
New Mickey Mouse Club and this time, was accepted. Along with other
future pop idols like Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera, Spears
danced and sung for two years on the show, when it was finally cancelled.
Wondering what was next, Spears tried a
variety of new ideas but settled on her singing career. With the help of
her mother and an Entertainment lawyer, they compiled a demo and sent it
to Jive Records, anxiously awaiting a response. It was not long before
that response came, requesting a live audition. Spears was ecstatic,
knowing what could come of this if she were signed. The Jive executives
were simply shocked and overwhelmed, immediately they signed Spears and
began developing an album. By 1998, Jive had Britney being promoted across
the country and soon everybody would know her name. In late 1998, they
released her first song and within a month “Baby One More Time” was a #1
hit. By 1999, she was known around the world and began taking home awards
after awards. She continued with dominant success by releasing a new album
in May of 2000 entitled, Oops!... I Did It Again. Soon after, she
signed an eight million dollar advertising deal with Pepsi, having her
appearing in numerous commercials. By the age of eighteen, Spears was one
of the most omnipotent artists in the music industry. She certainly did
not slow down there, as she released her third album in November of 2001 (Britney).
After her new album, she attempted to diversify her career by accepting a
role in an upcoming movie entitled, Crossroads (2002). The movie
was not exactly taken well by critics and fans as a whole, grossing very
little profits. Also in 2002, she opened an unsuccessful restaurant in New
York City, which closed later in 2003. Also, Spears launched yet another
album in 2003 (In the Zone). Marrying longtime childhood friend
Jason Alexander on January 3, 2004, sparked a controversial year for
Spears. Lasting just fifty-five hours, and annulment was granted on
January 5th, 2004. Not long after, Spears and Kevin Federline
announced their engagement. Later that year before some 27 friends and
family members, the two were married. She continued experimenting in other
fields that year by introducing a new perfume fragrance, “Curious” which
turned out to be extremely successful. Then on September 14th,
2005 Spears bore her first child, Sean Federline in Santa Monica,
California. |
